Air Conditioning Engineering Technology
Air
conditioning
engineering technologists work in the the design, installation, and
service of heating and air conditioning systems in residential and
commercial buildings. They know how to select and maintain equipment
that ensures building comfort. Some of the job titles those with degrees
in air conditioning engineering technology have include applications
engineer, project engineer, systems control, estimator, field
technician, systems representative, control systems trainer and in-plant
engineer.
Preparation
Those
interested in a career in air conditioning engineering technology
should consider reviewing engineering technology programs that are
accredited by ABET, Inc. However, there are many ET programs not yet
accredited by ABET, so check with your local community college or
university for more information. If you choose to attend a program that
is not ABET accredited, you should be sure that the university is regionally accredited. Students take courses such as pipe drafting, domestic
and commercial heating, fluid mechanics, and industrial controls.
