Employment 
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, actuaries hold about 27,700 jobs in the United States. About 71 percent of all actuaries are employed by financial and insurance institutions. Approximately 13 percent work for professional, scientific and technical consulting services. Six percent work in the management of companies and enterprises, 4% are self employed, and 3% are employed by government agencies.
